Drupal 8 has references as default in the core. You don't need modules for that. Who needs this module? Well...
1) Without this module one can use a view as reference widget.
Default is looks like this:
Choose views as a reference...
You need a view first of course.. Use entity reference.
Now you make a view with the fields you want to search on. Eg. With a name you want the birthday as search possibility.
De view looks like that. (I added an image field too)
I want to search on these fields:
When i use the widget for searching the content node, i can use the name:
but also the birthday:
That is what has been built in the core. A little disapointing. You see the fields show up in the view, but you can not use this display, just search on it.
2) With this module one can show the view display. In the input form new widgets appear.
I choose check boxes. All three fields of my view are visible now.
If you choose for a select list, know images are not supported.
